The Capital Film Arts Alliance is bringing back one of the most creative competitions we've ever hosted for CFAA members! 
It's a crazy combination of ​two creative competitions that will result in
a public film festival screening and awards ceremony  in early 2023 of all of the movies made! Lots of cash prizes and awards will be presented to
the winning writers, filmmakers and actors! 

PHASE 1 - FOR WRITERS - WIN $250
Writers submit their script entries - (dialogue only). 
The winning script will get $250 and be used by ALL filmmakers in next phase.
Best Script: $250 (Winner Paul Newton)

PHASE 2 - FOR FILMMAKERS - $2,250 in Prizes+
Filmmakers submit short films, using ONLY the dialogue provided.
The films will be screened in public. Top entries get awards and cash prizes. 
Best Film (Judged) $1,000
Best Film (Audience Choice) $500
Best Actor $250
Best Use of Script $250

PHASE 1:
​Screenwriting Challenge

The 1st phase of the contest is for screenwriters.

Cash prize of $250!!

​The screenwriters challenge:
  • Submit one single page of DIALOGUE ONLY.
  • No character names, no descriptions, no settings or directions.
  • One double spaced page of dialogue only.
  • Include member name and contact info on 2nd page.

​Filmmaking Challenge

The 2nd phase of the contest is for filmmakers.

​Cash prizes - $2,250!!

​The filmmakers challenge:
  • Team Leader must be a current  CFAA member.
  • Participating film teams must make a movie using the exact SAME winning script that is provided. You heard us... Every filmmaker  will use the exact same words in the exact same order.
  • No additional dialogue can be added.
  • You decide the story.
  • You decide the genre.
  • You decide the total running time (as long as it's 10 minutes or less).

Winning Script Available to Registered Filmmakers: December 16, 2022.

CONTEST RULES & DIRECTIONS:
1. Must be current CFAA member to enter. (www.capitalfilmarts.org/membership)
2. Must register in advance.
3. Submit entries to [email protected] 
4. Scripts: must be in pdf format. 
5. Films: entries must be in non-password protected Vimeo or You Tube links.
6. All submissions must include your name, phone, email address.
7. Do not share films or scripts publicly in advance of official event screening.
